The incidents of some of them have been narrated in the Qur’an. In these narrations, the contradiction between truth and falsehood and the conflict between the followers of Allah and the followers of Satan have been described as advice for the guidance of mankind. In addition, the verses of the Qur’an are usually found to be similar and the similarities of the verses revealed at one time are of the same nature. On the one hand, there is the sweetness of poetry, on the other hand, there is the smooth-flowing speed and seriousness of prose. The language and style of expression of the Qur’an differs from that of contemporary Arabic literature. It is pertinent to note that the first word of the first verse of the Qur’an is ‘Iqra’-reader. It is a collection of many verses and suras. The name ‘Al-Quran’ means whatever is read. For this reason, Hazrat Usman (RA) is called the compiler of Al-Quran (Jami’ul-Quran).Īmong the many names in the Quran, the four special ones are Al-Quran, Al-Furqan, Al-Kitab, and Az-Zikra. The third caliph, Hazrat Uthman (RA), made a number of copies of the Qur’an and sent them to different parts of the Muslim world. As many Hafiz was martyred in the battle of Yamama (633 AD), Hazrat Umar (RA) became concerned about the proper preservation of the Quran, and it was at his suggestion that the Caliph Abu Bakr (RA) arranged for the fragmentation of the Quran.Īfter the death of Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA), a copy of the Qur’an was preserved in the possession of the Caliph Hadrat ‘Umar. Those who memorize the Qur’an are called Hafiz. However, during his lifetime, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) arranged all the verses of the Qur’an according to the instructions of Allaah, and he and many of his Companions memorized the entire Quran. The incarnations were then inscribed on leather, tree bark, stone, broad bone fragments, etc.
The Qur’an was not compiled as a complete book before the demise of the Prophet (peace be upon him), because the process of revelation of the Qur’an continued till his demise. These words were gradually revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) for a long period of twenty-three years after the attainment of Nubuwat. The words of Almighty Allah have been compiled in it.

I use it for reading especially tahajjud and it is the best app I have encountered on all counts - font sizes, translations, word by word, history, and phonetics although I have found some mistakes in the phonetics. I cannot stop it until it goes through the entire Surah. However, for the last few months it has been crashing and keeps looping and or reciting without sound especially when I set and go to a bookmark. Just a well done app and can help in memorizing as well as building vocabulary. You can also choose a reciter and hear both Arabic and English. Each aya has several translations and a transliteration as well as individual word meanings. This is a great app! For each Surah there is a background summary of asbab el nizool (circumstances for which the surah was revealed) as well as the some history to place it in context of the Prophet’s life.
